3D Academy: CAD/DNA Project with Oahu Middle School Students

At 3D Academy we firmly believe that “while you teach, you learn.” We love getting out into the community and helping students learn about technology. This week were we at an Oahu middle school for two days working on a CAD/DNA project.

Project: Students utilized 3D CAD to design and develop their own DNA structure. While this process could have been done with traditional methods, the use of technology and 3D CAD allowed them to visualize how the nitrogen bases are attached to each other and allowed them to see the entire DNA helix in a three dimensional orientation. Going forward, students will have the ability to create renderings of their designs to present as class or group projects.
