Last weekend our President & Chief 3D Officer, Collin Kobayashi, was invited to be a judge at the Hawaii FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament. This year there was an exceptional turn out with 48 teams from across the state participating!
The 48 teams were judged on three categories: Core Values, Project, and Robot Design. Each team needed to answer questions related to their project, provide a project overview, demonstrate how teamwork played an important role in their robot design, and how to effectively problem solve.
This year, the Dolphinators came out on top winning the 1st place Champion Award — Congratulations!
It was great to see all of these exceptional students so excited about robotics!

If you are not familiar with FIRST LEGO League, it is a robotics program for 9 to 14 year olds, which is designed to get children excited about science and technology — and teach them valuable employment and life skills. FLL can be used in a classroom setting but is not solely designed for this purpose. Teams, composed of up to ten children with at least one adult coach, can also be associated with a pre-existing club or organization, homeschooled, or just be a group of friends who wish to do something awesome.
